Swim, Bike & Run, 25 Feb 2023
Race day dawned bright and clear on 25 Feb 2023 for the annual Auto & General Cross Triathlon at Steyn City. This year we could not be more pleased with the amazing turnout of athletes. The event sold out in record time, with 800 triathletes divided over two distances, a full distance and a half distance.
The full distance is aimed at moderately fit to seasoned triathletes and comprises a 600 m swim, 30 km mtb ride and 7 km run, whilst the Half distance offers a 300 m swim, 15 km mtb (mountain bike) and 3.5 km run to beginner athletes, families and youths.
For many, the Auto & General XTri (as we like to call it in short) was their first attempt at a triathlon or even a cross-triathlon, and there simply is no event that can offer beginners a better first-time experience. The swim takes place in the sparkling waters of the Steyn City lagoon, and, although a large body of water, 300 m in length, it is shallow enough for swimmers to walk if they feel the need to rest. The mtb and running trails meander through breathtaking parkland terrain alternating between custom-built dirt trails and artevia concrete pathways.
Although the distances are relatively short, Steyn City is by no means flat, with short, punchy climbs punctuating the routes, allowing for challenging bike and run legs.
So, every athlete who finished this race can feel immensely proud of their achievement!

Post-race Celebration
The excitement and anticipation before the race were tangible. But once the race was completed, athletes, supporters, crew and fans all took a moment to take in the incredible surroundings, lazing around the lagoon and celebrating their achievements.Â
The kids definitely had the best time splashing and sliding with the grown-up kids a close second.
‘We are super excited to do this again next year. A big shout-out to all of our clients, partners, customers, athletes and their supporters for coming out today, supporting us and making this event the huge success that it is’.
Until we see you again next year, keep tri-ing!
